A painted shield solved the problem, and within a generation it had become something more: a mark that belonged to a household, passed along with the name, and displayed on seals, banners, and doorways. By the fourteenth century, heralds had turned the practice into a discipline with its own vocabulary, its own rules of color, and its own sense of restraint. That discipline is what we work in. The rule of tincture Heraldry uses two metals, gold and silver, and five colors: red, blue, black, green, and purple. The oldest rule of the art is that metal is never placed on metal, and color never on color. A gold lion sits on a red field. A red chevron sits on a silver one. The rule exists for a reason. It keeps a design legible across a field or a room, and it is why a well made coat of arms still reads clearly from the far end of a hallway. What Heraldry Studies actually does. This policy explains how refunds and returns work. 90 DAY REFUND WINDOW We stand behind every order. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, including custom items such as: Family coat of arms artwork Framed family history prints and origin maps Personalized rings (custom sizing and engraving) Research based surname histories you may request a refund within 90 days of the delivery date. Simply email us at heraldrystudies@findyourcrest.com with your order number and the reason for your request. We review every request individually. Depending on the item and the reason provided, we may ask you to send the original product back to us before issuing your refund, or we may issue the refund without requiring a return. We will always tell you which applies to your request when we respond. DAMAGED OR INCORRECT ITEMS If your order arrives damaged or you received the wrong item, we will fix it as a priority, outside the general process above. If we sent a different size than the one you requested, that is treated as our error under Section 2 above. If you selected the wrong size yourself, that request is handled under the general 90 day refund window in Section 1. Depending on the situation, we may ask for the original ring back, offer a discounted resize or replacement, or issue a refund directly. ORDER CANCELLATION Orders may be canceled free of charge within 12 hours of purchase, since we typically begin processing custom artwork and research shortly after that window. After 12 hours, production may already be underway, and any cancellation at that point is handled as a refund request under Section 1 rather than a cancellation. SHIPPING ISSUES We are not responsible for: Delays caused by couriers or customs. Packages marked as delivered but not received by you. Incorrect shipping addresses provided by the customer. If anything is not exactly right, this policy explains how refunds and returns work. 1. Our 90 day refund window If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, you may request a refund within 90 days of the delivery date. This includes our custom items: family coat of arms artwork, framed family history prints and origin maps, personalized rings with custom sizing and engraving, and research based surname histories. To request a refund, email heraldrystudies@findyourcrest.com with your order number and the reason for your request. We review every request individually and reply within 24 hours, Monday through Friday. Depending on the item and the reason, we may ask you to send the original product back before issuing the refund, or we may issue the refund without requiring a return.
