You give your green amigo all the light and water it needs and it's still not thriving. And hey, is that a yellow leaf? But I just watered it yesterday! Should I be using fertilizer? all seems so simple but how do you get your new green friend to thrive, and why do you keep killing your old green friends!? We are often surprised when we see brown or yellow leaves after getting a new green roommate. Didn't you just water it yesterday? And what are those black and white spots doing on the leaves! Yuck! Aphids and critters, how to get rid of them? The amount and temperature of the water, the occurrence of illnesses, the amount of plant fertilizer and when to repot your plants. Here, all of this will be covered. Finally, all you wanted to know about the care for plants! Sun, shade, partial shade Okay, seems simple right? The differences between sun and shade are obvious but what do we mean with partial shade? Grab your notebook and let us explain! Partial shade What does partial shade mean? How far from the window do you need to put plants that prefer partial shade? Usually about 2 to 3 metres from the window sill works fine. Partial shaded plants don't mind some rays of sunshine for two to three hours but prefer bright spots that are not in direct sunlight most of the day. @thejungletown @thejungletown Sun Seems obvious right? Well there are a few things you need to know about plants that like full sunlight. Typically don't put them farther than 2 metres away from the window. A south-facing window works best but east- or west-facing works too. Also note that plants that like full sunlight are still typically grown in nurseries. They have not yet adjusted to bright sun conditions so put these plants a little farther away from the window at first and slowly move them closer. Shade You may not know this, but when a plant likes a shaded environment, this does not mean you have to put them in the full shade all the time. it is all about light intensity and these plants like a low-light intensity but they still need light to survive. 3 metres away from a window is perfect for them. While some plants like to have tons of bright sunlight, others prefer the shade and some like a little of both. This can be hard for plant parents who already have to think about watering and other plant needs. And to make it worse, terms like indirect light and partial shade are often thrown around, leading to even more confusion. To help, we've put together all the information you need to know about plants and lighting. So say goodbye to sun burnt leaves! Direct Light Let's start with the basics. Direct light refers to any light that comes through a window and shines directly onto your green amigo (nofilter). It's the same type of warm sunlight pets like to sit under during the day and is most common in South-facing windows. Unlike our furry amigos though, plants have a harder time withstanding direct light and most get burnt if put right next to a bright, sunny window. But some amigos like our friends Wendy and Joe absolutely looove the sun. Just make sure to introduce these light-loving amigos to the full sun slowly, as most houseplants begin their lives in nurseries without a lot of direct light. Start by placing your new green amigo in a sunny spot for an hour and slowly begin to increase its time in the sun each day. The term bright, indirect light is the most common and also the most confusing term for plant light care. Basically, indirect light is any sunlight that goes through or hits an object before reaching your green amigo. Good examples of this are a sunny window with a sheer curtain or turned down blind, as well as any light that reflects off of an object before hitting your green amigo. Now that's a dilemma! Plants are finicky things and they can be extremely picky when it comes to their watering needs. To help, we have outlined all of the information you need about watering. Your green amigos will never be too thirsty now! How much water do plants need? Just like no two snowflakes are alike, no two plants are alike when it comes to their watering needs. Each plant is unique and requires a different amount of care. To know how much water your plant requires, check its information and care page on our website. Or go to our Plantsome app, which has over 150 plants. It will give you all the information you need about your plants, as well as reminders to let you know exactly when your plants need water. How to know when your plant needs water Okay, so now that we know that each plant has different watering needs, how do you know when they need water? As we mentioned, the Plantsome app can help by letting you know when your green friends are thirsty. But to get to that watering sweet spot, we recommend having a good understanding of your plants in addition to using the app. There are three main ways that you can use to tell whether your plants need a drink: 1) Looking at your plants "Slightly" more dramatic plants like Baloo and Lilly let you know when they're thirsty by drooping their leaves or turning yellow and brown. This is common in tropical plants and green-leafed ones that require a lot of water. But merely looking at your plants to see how thirsty they are is never foolproof. Many plants often droop and yellow from over watering. And succulent-like plants such as Gus and Lucky often hide how thirsty they really are. 2) The finger test A more accurate test than merely looking at your plants is to stick your finger about 2-3 inches into their soil. For non-succulents and tropical plants, you should re-water once the top 2-3 inches of their soil is dry and the bottom is only slightly moist. For succulents and cacti, the soil should be even drier and the bottom portion should not be moist at all.

Returns We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. Hello. It&39;s a uphill battle to get my orders from plantsome. Plantsome required a signature from fed ex driver to avoid the plants being left out in the cold. Fed ex has sent my plants back at least 3-4 times this week with today being the fourth. I actually showed the driver my ID and he said would go across the street and bring them back. He drove off. The matched Google listing showed 4.4/5 from 419 reviews. Saved customer comments (not independently confirmed): I just received an order from them. I had ordered a Begonia maculata. The plant is covered with powdery mildew. My god! If I had not isolated it immediately it would have infected all my houseplants. I can’t believe a retailer/greenhouse would consciously pack a plant full of disease and send it to a customer! This is so irresponsible! | I purchased the following: 1. Alocasia Zebrina (small), 2. Philodendron Gloriosum (small), 3. Philodendron Campii (small), 4. Philodendron Neon Heartleaf (small), 5. Fishbone Cactus (large), and 6. Ctenanthe Golden Mosaic (small). As you can see from the pictures the sizes of the plants are very generous. I would say the only plant that fit the "small" category was the Neon Heartleaf but otherwise the sizes of the plants were very generous. Each plant also has obvious new growth occurring as well which I am pleased with. I am very impressed with my purchase. I would definitely use this company again and hopefully the generosity in size was not just a fluke with the types of plants I happened to purchase. I will be a returning customer! :) | SCAM ALERT! Plantsome is running a scam. Good reviews and social followers are fake and bought. It is designed to lure and distract customers. A lot of people have had disappointing and traumatic experiences. Many of us never received our orders. The company never sent us any messages or follow-ups. They didn't refund any money they owe us either. 👉🏼 They will pretend that they sent the order and that it was returned to them because no one was available to receive the parcel. However, it looks like they never actually sent the order in the first place. Later, they asked for an additional payment, claiming that the plant had undergone an “extra ultra inspection” by scientists, who had apparently discovered that the plant was damaged. lol. So, it took them four weeks (1 month) and a full NASA research team to figure out that a small plant was damaged because it was packed inside a dark box by their own team. 🤣 | We ordered these two plants online as they are not available anywhere in the stores here in the area where we live (in Ontario): 1. Callisia repens 'Pink Panther' | Callisia Pink 2. Senecio Rowleyanus | String of Pearls 3. Small plant from their assorted collection. First two plants came in the dried (died )state. Seems no proper care has taken to keep the plants alive in the transit from BC to Ontario(during these hot and humid days). We tried to save them by transferring those to a pot and by watering but only the small plant survived. Rest two died and some weird fungus formed around the plants. So we have to throw them away to keep ourselves and other plants in the home safe. When reported the issue they suggested re-potting the plants might have caused the problem and the warranty is not applicable here. If you are not living close don't order plants online by looking at the reviews. | Awesome packaging, always well put togheter and a great selection of plants and pots for any collection! | I would have loved to give this shop five stars, but unfortunately my first—and definitely last—experience shopping with Plantsome was disappointing. Here is my objective experience. Three of the four plants I purchased showed either thrip damage or an active thrips infestation. One plant was completely incorrect. (I received a Pilea mollis instead of a Euphorbia trigona ‘Red.’ There was no communication about a substitution, so it may have been a genuine mistake.) I contacted them via email (there’s no phone number) about these issues as soon as I took the plants out of the packaging and as of this review, I have yet to receive even an acknowledgment of my email (five days and counting). Pros: Great selection of plants Fast shipping Plants were packaged securely (no mess!) Cons: Thrips (the WORST!!) Poor communication—(by that I mean, no communication at all…) Thankfully, I knew to quarantine new plants otherwise I’d have a massive infestation to deal with. My suggestion: if you decide to purchase from this shop, isolate the plants and have pest control products on hand—you’ll probably need them. | I recently ordered 2 tropical plants from Plantsome Retail Inc. Vancouver. The plants did arrive quickly, safe and sound, beautiful and fully healthy !! Plantsome stands as a unique business because their values are so out of the ordinary.
